ISLAMIC, Umayyad Caliphate. Uncertain period (post-reform), AH 77-132 / AD 697-750. Fals (Bronze, 26 mm, 4.00 g), Yubna (biblical Jabneel), without date, struck circa AH 80-90 = circa AD 699-709. Album 191. A very rare mint. Good fine.

Yubna was an important Jewish cultural and administrative center, especially after the destruction of the temple in Jerusalem during the reign of Vespasian. It later became the seat of Christian bishops, until Amr ibn al-'As, one of the 'Sabaha' (Companions of the Prophet Muhammad), captured it during the caliphate of Abu Bakr.
